Back in November my hubby and I were finally approved to adopt a baby domestically. We're in the midst of the waiting game...if you haven't been through an adoption or know anyone who has this is pretty much goes...
-Decide you want to adopt,
-Fill out a stack of paper about 5inches thick,
-Send the paperwork to a ton of places and wait for it all to magically appear at your chosen agency with the appropriate signatures and approvals etc.
-Meet with a Caseworker for x amount of visits so he/she can determine that you'll be a fit parent.
-Go through about 20 hours of adoptive parent training classes.
-Meet with the caseworker for x amount more hours.
-Wait for your caseworker to decide that yes, you will in deed be a fit parent.
- Wait for a potential birthfamily (or an international government) to decide that they think you should parent such and so child.
-Wait for the child to come home to you....
Yep..I'm sure you being to see the theme here, there is a LOT of waiting! Believe me, the waiting is NOT fun. Its like being 9 months pregnant, but WITHOUT a due date! Everyone keeps telling us that the wait will be like nothing once that little one comes home and I'm sure they're right, but waiting does tend to get a bit tedious. While waiting my hubby and I are focusing on continuing to build a couple businesses and attempting to clean out our house since we've been told that babies take up A LOT Of room.
Back in the fall I left my day job to help my hubby build his business and to focus a bit more on my photography business as well. Its all coming together pretty well although the photography has been a bit on the slow end for a while. Ah well, I know that's also part of the winter duldrums which gives me some time to practice some new techniques etc.
Which brings me to this last weekend, my friend Jon and I spent an afternoon in the studio playing with the lights and in general just learning a few things about lighting. It was great! New in the gallery you'll see a few pictures that Jon did for me...you'll have to let me know which one is your favorite and I'll probably use that as my new ID once I remember how to make ID's again.
I guess that's about it from this end of the keyboard for the moment. Take care! Stay Warm and happy shooting into the New Year!
